🌿 Master Gardener Garden Tips from MU Extension
As the newly appointed Lake Saint Louis council member on the MU Extension Council in St. Charles County, I’m excited to help share helpful resources from MU Extension with our community.
This week, I’m sharing a few seasonal reminders from the MU Extension Master Gardeners for anyone caring for lawns, trees, flowers, roses, tomatoes, or fall garden plans.

🥬 Planning Ahead
Fall vegetables like lettuce, spinach, and broccoli can be planted when there is a break in hot weather, usually by late August. Fall cover crops like wheat, cereal rye, and red clover can help enrich garden soil for next spring.

First Saturdays, May through September
🍅 New Melle Farmers Market
Third Saturdays, May through August

🌼 Visit the Demonstration Gardens
The St. Charles County Master Gardener Demonstration Gardens are located at:
📍 260 Brown Road, St. Peters
The gardens are open daily from dawn to dusk. Signs are placed throughout the garden to identify flowers and produce. Produce from the gardens is shared with The Care Service food pantry, and the flowers are lovely for a visit, photos, or a little gardening inspiration. Garden tours are also available for groups.
📚 Upcoming Classes
Master Gardeners will hold public classes on September 12 at the Extension office on garden cover crops, tree and shrub selection and planting, and fall container gardening. More information:
